Southeast

The southeast has quietly become one of Mallorca's most fashionable regions. Santanyí, Cala d'Or, Porto Petro, Porto Colom, Cala Figuera, Ses Salines, Colònia de Sant Jordi and Es Trenc define the area, set against turquoise coves, low pine-covered cliffs and one of the longest stretches of natural sandy beach in the Mediterranean.

Santanyí's golden-stone old town has emerged as the lifestyle hub — a sophisticated mix of independent restaurants, galleries, boutiques and the weekly Wednesday market draws an international crowd year-round. The fishing harbours of Porto Petro, Porto Colom and Cala Figuera remain remarkably authentic; Colònia de Sant Jordi and Es Trenc offer some of the most beautiful natural beaches on the island.

Property here has shifted decisively towards design-led contemporary architecture — clean lines, natural materials, large glazed openings, integrated landscaping — alongside the traditional stone fincas inland. Many of the island's most celebrated new builds of the last decade have come from this region, and demand from international buyers (particularly German and Scandinavian) remains strong.
